Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today in Gujarat. This is the world’s largest office space, where there will be more than 4,200 diamond trading offices. Till now, the country’s financial capital Mumbai is considered the hub of diamond trading, but after the opening of SDB, Surat will also emerge as a big hub in jewelery and diamond trading.
What is Surat Diamond Bourse?
Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) is a planned diamond trading business center established to shift the diamond trading business from Mumbai to Surat. At present, Surat is the hub of diamond polishing and cutting and currently diamond trading in Surat takes place in Mahidharpara Diamond Market and Varachha Diamond Market. Where traders transact openly on the road without any security. For this reason, a large number of diamond trading takes place in Mumbai’s BKC i.e. Bandra Kurla Complex. Where many modern facilities are also available for international buyers.
The world’s largest office space
Surat Diamond Bourse has been built in 66 lakh square feet area. In terms of area, this is the largest office building so far, bigger than the US Pentagon. SDB has more than 4,200 offices, which are built in areas ranging from 300 square feet to 1,15,000 square feet. There are 9 towers in this bourse, in which 15 floors have been built in each tower.

Along with this, facilities like diamond polishing, diamond manufacturing machines, software, diamond quality certificates, lab diamonds and 27 diamond jewelery retail outlets for international and national buyers will also be there in Surat Diamond Bourse.
