Uttarakhand: ACS Radha Raturi gets charge of Chief Secretary, CS Sandhu on leave

Before the arrival of New Year in Uttarakhand, Radha Raturi has got the charge as Chief Secretary. Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu is currently on leave. Therefore, this charge has been given to the most senior Radha Raturi in the government. RK Sudhanshu also had the charge of Chief Secretary for some days. Chief Secretary Sandhu is on leave due to the wedding program of his son and recently Additional Chief Secretaries Radha Raturi and Anand Vardhan were also on leave. Due to which Principal Secretary Sudhanshu was given this responsibility. But now Radha has returned from a short leave and as the most senior officer, she has taken the charge of Chief Secretary.
Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has many important responsibilities in the Uttarakhand government. Radha Raturi is also the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister. She is also looking after the Home Department. According to the information, Chief Secretary SS Sandhu will join by the end of December. However, there is also retirement of the Chief Secretary in January. Due to which there is curiosity in the bureaucracy as to what will be the situation regarding the Chief Secretary after January.
Currently two options are visible. Due to the proximity of Lok Sabha elections, the government may give extension to Sandhu for the second time. This service extension can be for 6 months. Whereas the second possibility is to make the most senior officer Radha Raturi as CS. However, she too is retiring after a few months.
