Poor women in Rajasthan will not get cylinders for ₹ 450? Center said in Rajya Sabha- Government of India has not made any announcement

In fact, Minister of State in the Ministry of Petroleum and Gas, Rameshwar Teli told in the Rajya Sabha that the Central Government has not made any announcement regarding providing gas cylinders for Rs 450 in Rajasthan.

Gas cylinder for Rs 450 in Rajasthan?

Rajya Sabha MP Javed Ali Khan asked the Center in Parliament whether the government has recently made any announcement regarding providing gas cylinders for Rs 450 in Rajasthan. If yes, then also present the details related to it. Apart from this, he also asked whether the government is thinking of providing LPG gas cylinder for Rs 450 in other states including Uttar Pradesh.

Central government’s refusal

Responding on behalf of the government, Minister of State for Petroleum Rameshwar Teli refused to answer both these questions and said that the Government of India has not made any announcement regarding providing gas cylinders for Rs 450 in Rajasthan. Apart from this, he said that India imports more than 60 percent of its domestic LPG consumption.

Where did the matter arise from?

In fact, during the recently held assembly elections of five states, BJP had announced this in its election manifesto in Rajasthan. According to the BJP manifesto, if the party comes to power, women from poor families will be given LPG cylinders for Rs 450.

Government relief on LPG

The Central Government told the Rajya Sabha that under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), from May 21, 2022, for the years 2022-23 and 2023-24, the beneficiaries will be given Rs 200 for a maximum of 12 refills of domestic cylinder (14.2kg) in a year. Providing assistance amount per cylinder. Apart from this, the amount of assistance given to all the beneficiaries has been increased to Rs 300 from October 5, 2023. As per the latest rates as of 1.12.2023, the price of domestic cylinder for all beneficiaries of PMUY is Rs 603 (Delhi).
