Uttar Pradesh: Gift of road construction to MLAs and free bus travel to women! Good news before Lok Sabha elections, Yogi government is taking care
The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is going to give a big gift to the elderly women and MLAs of the state before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Under this, elderly women above 60 years of age will get the facility to travel free in roadways buses. Similarly, the government will give Rs 6 crore to build roads in rural areas of every assembly constituency of the state.
Proposals for road construction will come from the MLAs and the road construction work will be done by the Public Works Department (PWD) with the help of NABARD. Under this scheme, a two to six kilometer long road can be built in every assembly constituency. The government estimates that under the said scheme, about 1700 kilometers of new roads will be built in the rural areas of the state and its construction will facilitate the movement of people in the rural areas. The government will also benefit from this in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
85 thousand elderly women will be able to travel for free:
According to State Transport Minister Daya Shankar Singh, the state government will provide free travel facility in Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (Roadways) buses to women above 60 years of age before the Lok Sabha elections next year. Preparations are being made for this.
It is noteworthy that before the assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its resolution letter had promised to provide free bus travel facility to elderly women. To fulfill this promise, the government will have to spend Rs 250 to 300 crore every year. Every day around 85 thousand women in the state will avail the benefits of the said scheme.
This number will increase if the facility of free travel is available. Dayashankar Singh says that there is a plan to get the expenses incurred on providing free travel facilities to women from the Women’s Welfare Department. In UP, the facility for disabled people to travel free of cost in roadways buses is available.
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities reimburses the expenses incurred on free bus travel of disabled persons. Similarly, efforts are now being made to get reimbursement for free travel of women from the Women Welfare Department.

Very happy with the decision of getting Rs 6 crore for road construction in 403 assembly constituencies of Uttar Pradesh. MLAs of every party are very happy with this initiative of the government. These people say that the demand for construction of pucca roads in rural areas is highest, which now every MLA is in a position to fulfill.
According to the state’s PWD Minister Jitin Prasad, last June, proposals were sought from the MLAs for the construction of rural roads. It was then decided that road works worth Rs 6 crore would be done in every assembly constituency, which would be separate from the MLA funds. Under this, an estimate of about one thousand crore rupees has been prepared for road construction in rural areas of UP.
PWD officials are now examining the proposals received from every assembly constituency. Soon, more than 1200 road construction proposals from various assembly constituencies will be approved and sent to NABARD. So that, by obtaining the necessary funds for the construction, the work of construction of roads in rural areas can be started before the Lok Sabha elections.
