Mohammed Shami will get Arjun Award, big announcement made; These players also got lottery

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced the National Sports Awards 2023. The President of India will present the award at a specially organized ceremony on 09 January 2024. Based on the recommendations of the committee and after proper investigation, the government has decided to give awards to players, coaches and institutions. Indian team’s star fast bowler Mohammed Shami will be given the Arjuna Award. He has performed strongly for some time now. Arjun Award will be given to 26 players including Shami. The pair of Satwiksai Raj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be given the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.

Has done wonders in the World Cup

Mohammed Shami has performed strongly for Team India for some time now. He has won everyone’s hearts with his bowling. Shami has taken 24 wickets in 7 matches of ODI World Cup 2023. He was the highest wicket taker in the ODI World Cup 2023. His line and length are so precise that even the biggest batsmen get stunned. He proves to be very economical for the team and takes wickets on important occasions. He has played cricket in all three formats for India. In view of his brilliant performance, it has been announced to give him Arjuna Award.

These players will receive the Dornacharya Award

Badminton players Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have been selected for the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. Meanwhile, Ganesh Prabhakaran (Mallakhamb), Mahavir Saini (Para Athletics), Lalit Kumar (wrestling), RB Ramesh (chess) and Shivendra Singh (hockey) have been selected for the Dronacharya Award. Kavita Selvaraj (Kabaddi), Manjusha Kanwar (Badminton) and Vineet Kumar Sharma (Hockey) have been selected for the Dhyanchand Lifetime Award.

Jaskiraj Singh Grewal (Golf), Bhaskaran E (Kabaddi), Jayant Kumar Pushilal (Table Tennis) have been selected for the Dronacharya Award (Lifetime Category). Whereas, Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar, overall winner) has been selected for Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy 2023. Whereas Lovely Professional University (Punjab, first runner-up) and Kurukshetra University (second runner-up) stood second.
