Uttarakhand: Here ration was distributed in the name of the dead, investigation revealed, State Information Commissioner summoned the officer

Ration was also being distributed in the name of the dead in Roorkee, Haridwar. After this information came to light in the investigation, State Information Commissioner Yogesh Bhatt personally summoned the District Food Supply Officer of Haridwar and called the Regional Food Supply Officer with point-wise clarification on the investigation report.

Murtaza, a resident of Ratanpur, Roorkee, had sought information regarding ration distribution from the ration seller under the Right to Information Act. The ration seller said that the documents were missing. Appealing against this, Murtaza reached the State Information Commission. The commission directed to investigate the matter. Regional Food Officer Roorkee investigated the matter.

He said in his report, 16 ration cards were examined. The fact came to light that the District Food Supply Officer had not taken serious action on the investigation report. State Information Commissioner Bhatt, during the hearing of the case, ordered that the District Supply Officer will personally appear before the Commission in the next hearing on December 20.

At the same time, Regional Food Supply Officer Roorkee will also appear before the Commission with a clear report on every point of his investigation. During this time, the show cause notice issued earlier will also be heard. The Commission admitted that there is no system for verification of cardholders in the department.

He also told the Regional Food Officer about the delay in information that why not a fine of Rs 25,000 should also be imposed on him at the rate of Rs 250 per day. The Information Commissioner admitted that from the investigation conducted so far, it has been confirmed that ration is being given in the names of the deceased also, which is completely wrong.
