Suryakumar out of IND vs AFG series, will stay away from the field for a long time

A big news has come regarding Suryakumar Yadav. It is believed that Suryakumar may be away from the field for about seven weeks. In such a situation, Surya may be out of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan (IND vs AFG) starting from January 11 at home.

Actually, Surya got injured while fielding in the third T20I against South Africa. His ankle was injured. Surya had a scan after returning from South Africa last week, which revealed that he had a grade-II injury in his ankle. If everything goes well, Surya will be fit by the first week of February.

Suryakumar out for a long time

“Suryakumar will take some time to recover. He will have to report to the National Cricket Academy later for his rehabilitation. He is definitely going to miss the Afghanistan series,” a BCCI source told PTI.

When asked about his injury after India’s win in the third T20I in Johannesburg, Surya had said that he is fine and is able to walk. Let us tell you, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav had to leave the field when his ankle got badly twisted while fielding in the third T20I. With Surya leaving the field, vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja took charge as the stand-in captain. Before fielding, Surya had scored his fourth T20I century in his explosive style.

Even though the ODI World Cup was nothing special for Suryakumar, his excellent performance continues in T20I. After the World Cup final, under his captaincy, Surya led Team India to a spectacular victory in the 5-match T20I series against Australia. After this, the T20I series on the South Africa tour ended in a draw at 1-1.
