Uttarakhand: Ban on strike for six months in the state, ESMA implemented
Dehradun state government has implemented Uttar Pradesh Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) to ban strikes in government services. State government employees will not be able to go on strike for the next six months. Secretary Personnel and Vigilance Shailesh Bagauli has issued a notification in this regard.
If there is a strike in state government departments, the government will take action under ESMA. On the rationale of imposing ESMA, Bagauli said that many works of infrastructure development have to be done in the state. Preparations also have to be made for the Lok Sabha elections. Keeping this in view, ESMA has been imposed.
Let us tell you that as the Lok Sabha elections are approaching, the attitude of the employee organizations regarding the pending issues is also becoming harsh. This is also considered to be one of the main reasons for implementing ESMA in government services.
