Ban imposed on 3 players, this action of Afghanistan Cricket Board may affect IPL also
Afghanistan Cricket Board has taken big action regarding its 3 players. He has banned all three players from playing franchise cricket. This ban on players is for 2 years. The names of the three players who have been stopped from playing franchise cricket are Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Naveen Ul Haq and Fazal Haq Farooqui. Afghanistan Cricket Board has taken this decision considering the attitude of the three players. It is being said that these three players were giving more importance to their personal interests than playing for Afghanistan.
Afghanistan Cricket Board issued a press release informing about banning the players from playing franchise cricket. In its statement, the board insisted on playing in the commercial league for those players and not playing for national duty i.e. Afghanistan.
Banned from franchise cricket, central contract also stopped
Not only this, the board has also stopped the central contracts of these players. The Afghanistan Cricket Board formed a committee in this matter, according to a member of which, the three players had informed the board about their decision and had expressed their desire to be released from the central contract of January 1, 2024. It was also requested that his consent be taken for his participation in national events.
The effect of the decision can be seen on IPL also
However, now that the Afghanistan Cricket Board has refused to give NOC to Mujeeb, Naveen and Fazal to play in franchise cricket for the next 2 years, there is little chance that these three will be seen playing in the IPL this year.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in this time’s IPL auction. Naveen Ul Haq is already a part of Lucknow Super Giants. While Fazalhaq Farooqui has been retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad. These three players were also seen playing for Afghanistan in the One Day World Cup.
