Houthi rebels again attack ship in Red Sea, target container going from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan

Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Tuesday (26 December) targeted a Pakistan-bound container ship in the Red Sea. The ship which was attacked was coming from King Abdullah Port, Saudi Arabia towards Karachi Port. The ship’s company itself confirmed the attack. However, there were no casualties on the ship. Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for this attack.
According to Geo News report, Mediterranean Shipping Company said that United VIII was attacked while crossing the Red Sea on Tuesday. MSC said all crew were safe and no injuries were reported. The total damage caused to the ship has not been assessed. It is noteworthy that in recent weeks, Houthi rebels have targeted many ships in the Red Sea. According to a report, Houthi rebels have carried out more than 100 drone and missile attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

Due to the terror of Houthi rebels, many ships have had to change their routes. Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken on phone to Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Both the leaders have agreed to work to maintain peace, security and stability in West Asia.
Attacks have increased due to Israel-Hamas war

Before this, about a month ago, Houthi rebels had hijacked a cargo ship Galaxy Leader in the Red Sea. This ship was coming to India from Turkey. Houthi rebels had hijacked it thinking it was an Israeli ship. These attacks are taking place on ships heading towards Israel after the war between Israel and Hamas.
