Swami Avimukteshwaranand starts winter Chardham Yatra with Ganga worship, will get grand welcome

Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyotishpeeth has started the winter pilgrimage to the Chardhams of Uttarakhand from Wednesday. The yatra was started with Ganga puja in Haridwar.

After this, he will now be felicitated and given a grand welcome in Barkot Nagar area. First of all he will reach Kharsali, the winter worship place of Mother Yamuna. Along with this, will participate in evening puja and aarti. Shankaracharya will leave for Uttarkashi on Thursday.

Following the traditions established by Shankaracharya 2500 years ago, Shankaracharya of Jyotishapeeth is undertaking a pilgrimage to the winter places of worship. The yatra will conclude on January 3 and 24 in Haridwar.

This is happening for the first time in history

This is the first occasion in the history of Adiguru Shankaracharya tradition when the Acharya of Jyotishpeeth is undertaking a pilgrimage to the places of worship of the Chardhams. Describing Shankaracharya’s visit as historical, the Chief Minister had said that his pilgrimage will promote winter travel to Chardhams.
