Uttarakhand: Eighth convocation ceremony of UOU University in Haldwani, Governor, Chief Minister participated

The eighth convocation ceremony of Uttarakhand Open University was organized. State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand Governor, Chancellor, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd), Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat and many public representatives attended the convocation ceremony. In the convocation ceremony, degrees were distributed to 15417 students of the academic session 2022-23. In which 26 students from different courses were awarded gold medals. This time two students each in the subject of Education and Political Science were given gold medals.
This time, two medals were given to the Chancellor, three medals were sponsored, apart from five gold medals were given to graduate students and 16 gold medals were given to post-graduate students. Apart from this, five PhD students were also given degrees by the Chancellor. On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wished all the passed out students for their bright future. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh also inaugurated residential buildings and overhead tank built at a cost of Rs 6 crore 81 lakh in the Uttarakhand Open University campus.
Chancellor and Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh said that Uttarakhand Open University is continuously touching heights. The result of which is that the students here are making the name of Uttarakhand proud by obtaining degrees in many fields. Employment oriented education is also being provided by the university. The result of which is that the youth are strengthening their economic condition by taking employment oriented education from here and getting employment.
During this, Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that Uttarakhand Open University is proving to be a milestone in the field of distance education. Youth from marginalized areas are getting the opportunity to pursue higher education. He said that three major decisions have been taken in the field of higher education. He said that the Higher Education Department has decided that the copies of the exams of the students will now be centrally evaluated. Due to which the copies can be checked in 15 days.
