‘An attempt to turn India into saffron Pakistan, similar situation can happen for minorities’, said Julio Ribeiro

Former IPS officer Julio Ribeiro has said that he is worried that minorities in India may have to face situations like Pakistan in the future. He said that the kind of situation Hindus and Christians are facing in Pakistan today. In the coming times, minorities in India too may have to face a similar situation, about which they are worried.
Julio Ribeiro alleged that the government wants to turn India into saffron Pakistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met people of Christian religion at his residence in Delhi on Christmas. During this, PM Modi talked about his relations with Christians and also mentioned old memories. Regarding this, Julio alleged that in this way PM Modi is trying to woo the Christian people of Kerala.
Accused of getting Christian votes
He said, ‘Many of his friends who are not Christians feel that PM Modi held this meeting for votes. It is true that this will definitely get him votes, but hopefully his Christmas message will lead to a change of heart. If so then it is a good thing. However, I doubt it because the whole matter is to create a saffron Pakistan. Hindus and Christians are living in fear in Pakistan because they are a minority there. Such situations can happen in the country for the minorities of India also.
Police also accused of government control
Julio Ribeiro also alleged, ‘The political leadership controls the police in the country. The former police commissioner in Mumbai said that he cannot work in today’s time. The control of the police is completely with the government. Only the one who works like this and does not protest reaches the top. This is what is happening and it is very unfortunate. Ribeiro further said that more power should be given in the hands of the police, but no one is in favor of it. He further said that it is the duty of every police officer that they should make every effort to help every needy, be it poor or anyone else.
