Iranians mourn the death of Brigadier General Mousavi in Israeli attack

Thousands of Iranians gathered in Tehran on Thursday for the funeral of senior Revolutionary Guard commander Brigadier General Seyyed Razi Mousavi, three days after he was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Syria. According to reports, people chanted ‘Death to Slogans of ‘Israel’ and ‘Death to America’ were raised.

Iranian media reports said, “Many of the mourners were waving yellow flags with the message ‘I am your rival’ a reference to Israel.”

IRGC spokesman Ramzan Sharif said, “Our response to the killing of Mousavi will be a combination of direct action as well as action by others led by the axis of resistance.”

Brigadier General Mousavi was killed in an airstrike in the Sayida Zainab area near the Syrian capital, Damascus. He was a high-ranking official in the IRGC and was coordinating Iran’s military operations in Syria.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has said that Israel will have to pay a heavy price for the killing of Brigadier General Razi Mousavi. Israel has alleged that Brigadier General Mousavi was responsible for coordinating the supply of weapons and materials to Hezbollah.

Israel alleges that Iran and its IRGC are supporting Hamas and Hezbollah who work in coordination to attack Israel.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said in a social media post, “Tel Aviv faces a difficult countdown.”
