Red alert of fog in 5 states including Delhi; 271 flights late, maximum temperature of 7 cities of UP less than Mussoorie

There is a possibility of dense fog in the northern states of the country for the next two days. According to the Meteorological Department, these states include Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. A red alert has been issued here regarding fog.

According to media reports, due to fog, 271 flights across the country were delayed and about one and a half dozen flights had to be cancelled. Meanwhile, news agency ANI reported that 100 flights were delayed in Delhi alone. Apart from this, more than 80 trains are running late by 8 to 10 hours.

On the other hand, there is red alert of fog in 51 districts of UP. The maximum mercury of 7 cities was recorded less than Mussoorie. Visibility in these cities reached zero at some places and 5-10 meters at others. At the same time, an alert of very dense fog has been issued in 7 districts of MP.

According to IMD, there is a possibility of light rain or snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on December 30 and 31. Apart from this, there may be light rain in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala from December 31 to January 2.

12 people died in road accidents due to dense smog in Uttar Pradesh. In its advisory dated Thursday, December 28, the Meteorological Department has advised people to use fog lights while traveling by any means on the road.

Nearly 60 flights were diverted from Delhi airport in the last three days

Due to dense smog, about 60 flights from Delhi Airport were diverted to airports of other cities in the last three days. From 12 midnight on December 25 to 6 am on December 28, 58 flights have been diverted.

On Thursday, December 28, due to dense fog, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s flight was diverted from Delhi Airport to Jaipur. A mega rally was organized in Nagpur on the occasion of 139th Foundation Day of Congress. Rahul was returning to Delhi after attending this rally.

Railway service was also affected due to reduced visibility due to fog. On Thursday, 22 trains going towards Delhi ran late from their scheduled time. Vande Bharat train going from Delhi to Varanasi was delayed by more than 15 hours.

First cold wave likely to arrive on January 4

According to the Meteorological Department, the first cold wave is expected to arrive in the northern areas on January 4. After this, there may be a drop in the minimum temperature here. The minimum temperature in Delhi may remain seven to eight degrees Celsius for the next five days. On Thursday, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 8.4 degrees and the maximum temperature was 21.4 degrees.

Dense fog will remain in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till December 30. The visibility range here is expected to be up to 50 meters.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of very dense fog in 7 districts of MP including Gwalior, Chhatarpur-Niwari. During this period, hail may fall in Gwalior, Chambal, Ujjain, Bhopal, Sagar and Rewa divisions.

The maximum mercury of 7 cities of Uttar Pradesh was recorded less than Mussoorie. Whereas, there was dense fog in Kanpur, Ayodhya, Varanasi and Meerut on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of dense fog in 51 districts of the state on Friday. In this, Orange alert was issued in 21 districts while Yellow alert was issued in 30 districts. Visibility was recorded at 30-40 meters in most cities of the state. Not only this, rain is expected in many cities on Saturday.

Haryana in the grip of cold wave, guidelines issued, 10 districts in red zone due to dense fog

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in view of the dense fog in 10 districts of Haryana. Visibility has reached 10 meters in these districts. Due to fog, visibility was recorded at 10 meters in Ambala, 15 in Chandigarh, 50 in Sirsa and 60 meters in Karnal.
