Uttarakhand: BJP leader accused of raping a minor in Champawat, case registered

Uttarakhand Police has registered a case against a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Champawat district for raping a minor girl. After which efforts are being made to arrest the BJP leader. In this case, which came to light on Friday in the assembly constituency of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s mother.

Champawat Superintendent of Police (SP) Devendra Pincha said that Kamal Rawat, Talladesh Mandal President of BJP of the district and Area Panchayat member of Salli village, has been accused of raping a minor girl. He said that a case has been registered against Rawat under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (intimidation) as well as Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO). Has been done. He told that raids are being conducted to arrest Rawat. Rawat has also been the president of the student union in Champawat PG College in the past.

Superintendent of Police Pincha said that after the medical examination of the victim on Saturday, her statement will be recorded in the court. In the complaint, the victim’s mother has alleged that Rawat physically exploited the minor girl by luring her and after that he continued raping her by threatening her. It has been alleged in the complaint that the accused even threatened to kill the minor girl if she made the matter public or told anyone else about it, but the victim told the whole truth to her family. After which he took the complaint and reached the police station with the victim on Friday.
