Uttarakhand: Traffic will remain diverted in Rishikesh on 31st and New Year

Tourists from all over the country are coming to Uttarakhand to celebrate New Year. From Queen of Hills Mussoorie to Nainital, hotels are packed with tourists. Tourists are also reaching Yoga city Rishikesh. Keeping this in view, a traffic plan has been issued.

Traffic will remain diverted in Rishikesh on New Year

  1. Tourist vehicles coming to Rishikesh from Haridwar will be sent to Rishikesh from Nepali Farm via Bhaniawala, Ranipokhari.
  2. There will be temporary parking for vehicles near Bharat Vihar, Chandrabhaga river bank and old railway station.
  3. Passenger vehicles and local vehicles will be allowed to enter the city through the main road via Shyampur.
  4. If the traffic pressure remains low, vehicles from outside states will be able to come towards Rishikesh through Haridwar bypass route.
  5. To go from Rishikesh to Haridwar, traffic will be sent from Mansa Devi gate located by bypass towards Chilla Road via barrage.

Special arrangements have been made

  1. In view of 31st, to streamline the traffic and parking system, adequate police force has been appointed from the traffic police for Mussoorie and Rishikesh.
  2. To streamline the traffic system of Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh, towing cranes are being deployed in the traffic police and are being kept mobile. Through which, no-parking and towing and clamping operations will be ensured on vehicles parked in unnecessary routes.
  3. To keep an eye on the traffic system, monitoring will be done through drones in Dehradun and Mussoorie.
  4. Checking will be done at barrier points for drunken driving/ruckus drivers.
  5. In view of New Year’s Eve and New Year 2024, heavy vehicles coming to Mussoorie from Mussoorie Diversion and Bataghat Check Post will be completely banned from 08.00 am to 24.00 pm on 31st and 1st January.
  6. Vehicles carrying essential services will be allowed to move during the above restricted time.
