Arun Mohan Joshi became the youngest IG of the country, became IPS at the age of 23
IPS Arun Mohan Joshi of the year 2006 batch has become the youngest (40 years) IG of the country. Just a few days ago, the government had approved his DPC. IPS Arun Mohan Joshi, resident of Chakrata, Uttarakhand, became IPS at the youngest age (23 years) in the year 2006.
However, after this, other officers in the country have registered their names in becoming IPS at a young age. In the case of IG, 2004 batch IPS Gaurav Rajput became the youngest IG of the country in the year 2022 at the age of 41. Now 2006 batch IPS Arun Mohan Joshi of Uttarakhand cadre has become IG at the age of 40.
IG Arun Mohan Joshi studied in Dehradun and Haridwar. He has three brothers and one sister. Before becoming IPS, he was doing engineering at IIT Roorkee.
DPC was concluded on 22 December 2023
DPC of Indian Police Service officers was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary at Uttarakhand Secretariat on December 22, 2023. In DPC, it was decided to promote 2006 batch IPS officers Deputy Inspector General of Police Sweety Aggarwal, Arun Mohan Joshi, Anant Shankar Takwale and Rajiv Swarup to the post of Inspector General of Police from January 1, 2024.
Since Sweety Aggarwal was on deputation, it was decided to grant her perma promotion. Apart from this, it was decided to promote 2010 batch IPS officer Superintendent of Police Sukhbir Singh to the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police from January 1, 2024.
It was decided to provide selection grade to 2011 batch IPS officers Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar and Dhirendra Gunjyal from January 1, 2024. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presented promotion badges to all the officers who got promotion on Monday in a program organized at the Chief Minister’s residence.
