There is shortage of petrol and diesel, prices of fruits and vegetables increased due to the strike of truck drivers across the country

Truck drivers across the country are on strike since Monday over the provisions of the Central Government’s new law in hit and run cases. Due to this, essential commodities like petrol, diesel, fruits and vegetables are not reaching various states, due to which the prices of all these have increased.

There are reports of petrol and diesel pumps going dry from many states including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Punjab. Long queues of people are being seen here. The supply of fruits, vegetables, milk and agricultural goods is being affected. At many places, the administration is contacting transporters to restore supplies.

All India Transport Congress President Amritlal Madan said, ‘The transporters have not announced the strike yet. The decision on this will be taken in the meeting to be held in Delhi on Tuesday. Right now the drivers themselves are leaving the vehicles and getting down. They are not even allowing others to drive. On the other hand, two petitions against the strike were heard in the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Tuesday. The court has directed the state government to immediately end the strike and restore transportation.

Let us tell you that the drivers are protesting against the law related to hit and run, in which there is a provision of 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7 lakh. Drivers across the country are very angry about this law brought by the Central Government. It is believed that if the solution is not found in time, there could be a big crisis in the supply of food items, vegetables, milk etc. in the states.
