Uttarakhand: New system will be implemented from the new session, Education Minister said – the burden of students’ bags will be less.

Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that the burden of school bags of students will be reduced from the upcoming academic session. In a meeting held with officials of various boards in the Directorate General of Education, the Minister said that guidelines for this will be issued by the government soon. It will be the responsibility of the Chief Education Officers to follow the order.

The benefit of maternity leave will also be given to temporary teachers posted on contract and fixed pay scales posted in various schools of the state. The Minister said, the burden of children’s schoolbags in all the schools of the state will be reduced as per the prescribed standards. For this, SCERT Uttarakhand officials have been instructed to prepare a proposal and send it to the government.

Public awareness campaign will be conducted

After the guidelines are issued from the government, the new system will be implemented from the coming session itself. Before this, till January 26, 2024, a public awareness campaign will be conducted by organizing meetings with private school operators, managers, principals and parents at the district and state level in the entire state.

The Education Minister said, private schools from class 1 to 12 are being run in the state under ICSE, CBSE, Uttarakhand Board and Indian Education Board, in which the burden of the school bags of the children studying is many times more than their capacity. . To reduce this, a recommendation has also been made in the New Education Policy-2020, apart from this, as per the order issued by the Madras High Court in the year 2019, the state government has already issued an order to reduce the burden of school bags. Which could not be followed in the state.

Contract and temporary teachers will get maternity leave

Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said, contract and temporary teachers working in various schools of the state will be given maternity leave like other employees. In this regard, orders will be issued to the Chief Education Officers of all the districts from the departmental level. In the meeting, it was decided to give a lump sum amount (token money) to new private schools instead of financial grant. The rules will be amended for this.
