Uttarakhand: Reconstruction and treatment will be done in Joshimath with Rs 1,070 crore, high risk zone will be kept vacant

The Central Government will provide an amount of Rs 1079.96 crore for the treatment, reconstruction and rehabilitation of the affected people in Joshimath. This amount will be given in three installments in the next three years. This information has been given by Ashish V Gavai, Director of Disaster Management Division of the Union Home Ministry, by sending a letter to the State Disaster Management Secretary Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha.
An amount of Rs 500.73 crore will be given this year
Let us tell you that this year the Center will give an amount of Rs 500.73 crore to Joshimath which is suffering from landslides. On this, Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Sinha said that now work will be done rapidly in Joshimath. Let us tell you that in January last year, there was rapid landslide in Joshimath. A large part of Joshimath has been hit by landslides. In view of this, the government had sent more than 800 disaster affected people to safe places for temporary rehabilitation.
The state government had sent a proposal for an action plan worth Rs 1658.17 crore
Due to land subsidence, not only the country but the whole world had its eyes on Joshimath. Meanwhile, nine agencies of renowned institutions of the country had investigated the causes of landslide in Joshimath. After which suggestions related to treatment, reconstruction and rehabilitation were given. On the basis of this, the state government had prepared and sent a proposal for an action plan worth Rs 1658.17 crore to the Centre.
High risk zone should be kept empty
The Center has given instructions to keep the high risk zone of Joshimath vacant. The Center also said that the amount given to the affected people should be transferred directly into their bank accounts. Along with this, the state government will also develop a monitoring system along with the National Disaster Management Authority to monitor the works. Let us inform that the utilization certificate of the works will also be sent to the center every three months.
