With the implementation of the Justice Code, 82 thousand prisoners will be released; There will be relief in less serious crimes; If there is no bail money then the government will pay it

The Indian Justice Code (BNS), which was created in place of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) dating back to the British era, is set to be implemented this month before the Republic Day i.e. 26th January.

With the issuance of the notification, the process of release of about 82 thousand prisoners lodged in jail for less serious crimes will begin. He is likely to come out of jail before Holi.

A senior Home Ministry official says that trainers will train jail officials, police forces and lawyers to start the release process of under-trial prisoners. Training of 3000 trainers has been done. Now they will train the rest according to the new law.

The government has made arrangements for a special fund for those prisoners who do not have the bail money. The central and state governments will deposit the bail amount of such prisoners.

Half of the prisoners in jails are accused of non-serious crime
Home Ministry sources say that there are five and a half lakh prisoners in the jails of the country. Nearly half of the total number of prisoners are inmates of non-serious crimes.

The number of people under trial for non-serious crimes is 2 lakh. Most of them have been in jail for more than the maximum sentence.

A Home Ministry official says that till now police personnel were busy all day long in the process of appearing for bail and then taking them to jail if bail was not granted. Now the police force will get time to do other work.
