Big action by ED in Bengal, TMC leader Shankar Aadhya arrested in ration scam case, supporters attack on officers
Enforcement Directorate has taken major action in the ration scam case in West Bengal. ED has arrested TMC leader Shankar Aadhya in the ration scam case in Bongaon, Bengal. The ED team was raiding Shankar Aadhya’s house since yesterday i.e. Friday. At present, the ED team has arrested TMC leader Shankar and brought him to the ED headquarters in Kolkata and now he is being interrogated. However, the ED team that had gone to arrest the TMC leader was also attacked.
Actually, raids are going on at the house of TMC leader and former chairman of Bongaon Municipality Shankar Aadhya since yesterday. ED arrested Shankar Aadhya late night. Shankar Aadhya’s house and in-laws’ house were also raided yesterday. It is being told that eight and a half lakh rupees and many important documents have been found from the TMC leader’s house.
The ED team was also attacked during the arrest. When the ED team had arrived to arrest Shankar, the TMC leader’s supporters tried to stop the ED officers and pelted his vehicle with bricks and stones. However, with the help of CRPF jawans, ED has arrested him and now the TMC leader has been brought to Kolkata.
TMC leader Shahjahan’s house was also attacked
Earlier, the ED team that had gone to raid Shahjahan Shake’s house was attacked on Friday. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said its officers suffered serious injuries and their items like mobile phones and wallets were looted in a mob attack during a raid in West Bengal’s 24 Parganas district on Friday. The federal agency said it has lodged a complaint with the local police to register an FIR against the accused. Actually, ED officials are preparing ‘two sets’ of reports on the attacks on his associates by the mob during the raid on the residence of TMC leader Shahjahan Shaik in West Bengal.
When did the attack happen
The ED team was attacked when it had gone to search the residence of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sheikh Shahjahan in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas in connection with the ration distribution scam. The agency said that ED officers were attacked by the mob (suspectedly instigated by Shaikh and his associates) while performing their duties. Three officers suffered serious injuries as the mob was moving towards the ED officers with the aim of killing them. The federal agency said other officers had to flee the scene without being searched to save their lives, as the crowd became “very violent” and even chased the officers to prevent them from carrying out their official duties.
