Uttarakhand: Now doctors will not retire at the age of 60, government increased the retirement age of specialist doctors

To overcome the shortage of specialist doctors in the state, the government is now going to create a separate cadre of specialist doctors. The salary determination of these doctors will also be different. Their retirement age is being increased from 60 years to 65 years.

Besides, the government will now also take steps towards filling all the 1300 posts of technical cadre. The government has also decided to increase the maximum age limit for recruitment of professors in government medical colleges from 50 years to 62 years and the superannuation age to 65 years.

Retirement age of specialist doctors increased

On Saturday, Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat reviewed the Health Department at the Secretariat. It was decided in the meeting that departmental officers will provide their proposal to the government within a week for increasing the retirement age of specialist doctors, which will be placed in the upcoming cabinet meeting.

In the meeting, it was also agreed to appoint doctors on vacant posts in the department in the fixed pay scale and to approve temporary posts as an alternative for MBBS doctors who have gone for PG course. Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that the technical cadre of the Health Department was also discussed in the meeting.

There are 1300 posts of technical cadre in the department. Regarding these, approval has been issued to fill only 250 posts. At present, there is a need for technicians in all the hospitals of the state. In view of this, instructions have been given to the departmental officers that the proposal to revive and fill all the posts should be presented before the Cabinet.

Vacant posts of professor and associate professor in medical colleges

The Health Minister said that 156 posts of Professor and Associate Professor are vacant in various government medical colleges of the state. In such a situation, it has been decided to change their minimum age limit. The Medical Education Department has been asked to make a proposal related to this. He said that under medical education, it has also been decided to increase the pay scale of vacant posts of super specialty departments in various government medical colleges.

Vice Chairman of National Rural Health and Monitoring Council Suresh Bhatt, Chief Secretary SS Sandhu, Secretary Health R Rajesh Kumar, Additional Secretary Health Namami Bansal and Amandeep Kaur, Director General Health Dr Vinita Shah and other officials were present in the meeting.
