No entry of auto-bikes, cars will run at a speed of 100KM… Country’s longest sea bridge Atal Setu will open from tomorrow.

The country’s longest Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL) bridge built on the sea in Mumbai has been completed. PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate it tomorrow. After the start of vehicular movement on this 22 kilometer long bridge, it will be possible to complete the journey from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai in just 20 minutes. Rs 21,200 crore has been spent on this project, which will reduce the distance between the two cities, of which Rs 15,100 crore has been taken as loan. MTHL starts from Shivari and ends at Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka of Raigarh district.

No entry of bike-auto
There will be a ban on movement of motor cycles, autorickshaws and tractors on Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL). That means motorcycles, mopeds, three-wheelers, autos, tractors, animal-drawn vehicles and slow moving vehicles will not be allowed to pass through this bridge.

The maximum speed limit for four-wheelers on this bridge will be 100 kmph. According to an official, vehicles like cars, taxis, light motor vehicles, mini buses and two-axle buses will have a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour. He said the speed on the ascents and descents of the bridge would be limited to 40 km per hour.

The bridge was to be completed for Rs 18000 crore
Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL) is the longest sea bridge in the country. It was to cost Rs 18,000 crore to build this bridge. This bridge is being built since 2018. The bridge was expected to be completed in four and a half years, but the infrastructure project was delayed by eight months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also known as Atal Setu, the bridge starts from Sewri in Mumbai and ends at Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka of Raigad district.

Know how much toll will be
​Car drivers traveling from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai through this bridge will have to spend Rs 250 on toll. MTHL toll rates have been approved by the Maharashtra government in the cabinet meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country’s longest bridge built on the sea on January 12.
