Uttarakhand: CS reviews progress of Special Assistance Scheme to States for Capital Investment for the financial year 2023-24

Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu reviewed the progress of the Special Assistance Scheme to States for Capital Investment for the financial year 2023-24 at the Secretariat on Friday. The Chief Secretary instructed all the departmental heads to prepare good projects. He expressed his displeasure over the departments not coming up with proposals as per the target achieved by the state. He said that a lot still remains to be done in the state, despite this the departments are not able to send proposals, this situation is not right.

The Chief Secretary said that auditoriums, indoor and outdoor stadiums should be built in every big city of the state. He directed to prepare a master plan for the entire state for sports facilities. Said that a plan for the next 5-10 years should be prepared by setting priorities. The Tourism Department should be made the anchor department for the river front development schemes of the state so that the river front development works can be prepared from the tourism point of view.

The Chief Secretary directed the Education Department to speed up the construction of school buildings, laboratories, libraries etc. in schools and prepare proposals soon. He said that the departments which are to give utilization certificates for the next installment of the scheme, should provide the utilization certificates soon. S.A.S. Technical evaluation of the schemes should be done on priority basis so that the state can get the benefit of special assistance given by the Centre.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Arvind Singh Hayanki, Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam, S. N. Pandey and other senior departmental officials were present.
