Flight going from Mumbai to Guwahati landing in Bangladesh; Flight diverted to Dhaka due to fog; 178 passengers remained sitting in the plane for 12 hours

Indigo flight from Mumbai to Guwahati landed in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Saturday (January 13). Due to dense fog in Guwahati, the flight could not land and was diverted.

There were 178 passengers on this flight. Since it was a domestic flight, all the passengers were traveling without passports, hence they were not allowed to deboard the flight in Dhaka. Due to this, passengers had to sit inside the flight for 12 hours.

According to news agency PTI, Indigo flight 6E 5319 going from Mumbai to Guwahati was scheduled to take off at 8:20 pm on Friday night. It was to reach Guwahati at 11:10 pm. However, this flight departed from Mumbai at 11:12.

It was to reach Guwahati by 3:26 am on Saturday, but had to be diverted due to fog. This flight reached Dhaka at 4 am. It left from there at 10:54 am and reached Guwahati at 11:10 am.

Congress leader sitting in the flight said – could have reached Europe in 12 hours

Congress leader Suraj Singh Thakur was traveling in this flight. He informed about the incident on social media platform X. He told at 6:56 am on Saturday that I have been stuck in the plane for the last 9 hours. I had left for Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Manipur. Let’s see when we reach Guwahati. From there I will again take a flight to Imphal.

Then at 11:48 in the morning he told that after a flight of about 12 hours I would reach Europe. However, I am happy to reach Guwahati.

Earlier there was a plan to land in Kolkata or Bhubaneswar.
Airline company Indigo said regarding the incident that the flight was initially planned to land in Kolkata or Bhubaneswar. However, the weather in Kolkata was also bad, while the runway in Bhubaneswar was closed. Therefore the flight was diverted to Dhaka.

Indigo said that a second crew member was arranged from Dhaka to Guwahati. All updates were being given to the passengers.
