Deep friendship with Rahul Gandhi, then why did Milind Deora choose a different path before the second trip? Know the real reason

The Congress party has suffered a major setback in Mumbai even before the start of the Bharat Joda Nyay Yatra. Milind Deora, who walked step by step with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the first edition of the yatra, has now decided to walk separately. Deora has changed his political itinerary even before Rahul Gandhi’s visit from Manipur to Mumbai. He will now take his political journey forward by becoming the face of Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Maharashtra. Why did his son, Murli Deora, who was with the Congress all his life, suddenly break his family’s 55-year-old relationship with the Congress? Milind Deora was close to Rahul Gandhi. Earlier he had also handled the responsibility of Mumbai Congress. At the age of 34, the party also made him Minister of State at the Center in UPA-2. Then it was said that Milind Deora got a place in the Manmohan Singh cabinet because of Rahul Gandhi.

What parted ways?
Milind Deora is the son of veteran Congress leader Milind Deora. His father was the Mayor of Mumbai, a member of both Houses of Parliament and a Minister of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in the Central Government. Milind Deora had entered politics during his father’s tenure. He became an MP and then a minister at a young age, but in the last two elections he was facing defeat from his father’s traditional seat Mumbai South. Deora was hopeful that the party would give him a chance again in the 2024 elections, but this seat is currently occupied by Uddhav Thackeray faction leader Arvind Sawant. Sawant remains loyal to Uddhav even after the rebellion in Shiv Sena. In such a situation, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) did not want to give this seat to Congress under any circumstances. Recently, when Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya Thackeray, while organizing a political program in this area, raised an alarm and said that his time will come? Thackeray had expressed the claim of Shiv Sena (UBT) in gestures. Then Milind Deora expressed his displeasure and said that the alliance parties should not do this until the seats are divided.

If sources are to be believed, Mumbai South seat was won by Murli Deora four times and Milind Deora himself twice. Milind Deora did not want to leave that seat. Seeing this seat going to Shiv Sena (UBT) in the seat sharing of I.N.D.I.A Alliance, he finally made up his mind for his new political journey. It is discussed that the image and popularity of Arvind Sawant, who is associated with Uddhav Thackeray, is quite high in this area. In such a situation, Eknath Shinde was looking for such a strong face on this seat who would not only give competition to Arvind Sawant, but if a claim was made on his behalf for this seat, even BJP would not be able to refuse. In this way the search for Eknath Shinde ended with Milind Deora. When all the Congress leaders were heading towards Manipur, at night this information spread in the political circles that the direction of the Sun changes on Makar Sankranti and then a Congress leader is also going to change his political direction. In the morning, Milind Deora himself announced his departure from Congress on social media.

Deora lost by one lakh votes
There was a contest between Milind Deora and Arvind Sawat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In 2024 also, the expectation of a contest between the two has increased. In the last elections, Arvind Ganpat Sawant, the candidate of Shiv Sena and BJP, got 421,937 lakh votes, while Milind Deora got 3,21,870 votes. He had to face defeat by 1,00,067 votes. Anil Chaudhary, the candidate of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, had got 30,348 votes on this seat. Milind Deora had increased his number of votes as compared to 2014, but he could not win. Milind Deora won for the first time in 2004 by defeating sitting BJP MP Jaywanti Mehta. For the second time in 2009, he faced Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
