Israel wants to completely cut off Gaza from the world, Netanyahu announces to capture Egypt border

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that it is very important to close the border between Egypt and Gaza. This would be a move that would give Israel complete control over access to the Palestinian territories to the rest of the world. On Saturday, Netanyahu said Israel would not consider the war over until it closed the Philadelphia Corridor, a 14km strip that serves as a buffer zone on the border between Egypt and Gaza. The Israeli PM said that along with eliminating Hamas, it is also very important to stop the entry of military equipment and other deadly weapons through this southern gate, so we definitely need to close it.

Gaza shares borders with Israel on both sides and its Mediterranean coast and airspace are also under a tight Israeli blockade. The city of Rafah is the only crossing point into Egypt and Gaza that Israel does not control. According to Netanyahu, Israeli officials have not yet decided how they will proceed to close Gaza’s border with Egypt but if it does, Israel will have full control over the Palestinian enclave. In view of these things, Egypt had some time ago warned Israel against military operations in the Philadelphia corridor. Egypt had said that any Israeli action in the Philadelphia corridor would be seen as a violation of the 1979 Egypt–Israel peace treaty. Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in an interview on Saturday that Egypt fully controls its borders.

100 days of fighting in Gaza completed
Fighting has been going on in Gaza since October 7; Sunday completed 100 days of the ongoing fighting between Hamas and Israel. On October 7, Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and abducting about 240 people. After this, Israel attacked Gaza Strip. Israeli attacks, which started on October 7, continue. More than 23,000 Palestinian civilians have died so far in the war started by Israel. More than 50 thousand have been injured. More than half of these numbers are children and women. A large number of displacements are also taking place in the Gaza Strip. More than 80 percent of Gaza’s population of about 2.3 million has had to seek refuge in safer places, creating a major humanitarian crisis in the region. In the last week of December, Qatar brokered a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. After this agreement of a week, the war started again.

There is no sign of this war ending any time soon. Israeli PM Netanyahu has said that this fight will continue until the Israeli army achieves complete victory i.e. the destruction of Hamas. Netanyahu has also refused to bow before any international pressure. “We will restore security in both our south and our north,” Netanyahu said. Neither any international court will stop us nor any other power can stop us from doing this. It may take time but we will achieve this goal.
