Uttarakhand: Nainital – Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat held departmental review meeting of Kumaon division, gave these important instructions

Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat did departmental review meeting of Kumaon division was organized at Nainital Club on Tuesday under his chairmanship. Which mainly includes District Plan, 20-point, Jal Jeevan Mission, works costing more than Rs. 10.00 crore, pending forest land cases at the district level, cases of wildlife conflict under the division and how many incidents of arson and arson will occur in how many forest departments in 2023. Efforts to prevent incidents etc. were discussed and departmental review was done. The Commissioner also took information about income and expenditure under state sector, centrally funded and externally aided schemes.
The Commissioner reviewed the district-wise number of injuries, deaths and available funds under the issue of wildlife conflict in 2023-24. In which officials said that since last year till now, 37 people have died and 151 people have been injured in wildlife conflict, an amount of Rs 19.45 lakh has been given to the victims. The Commissioner directed the concerned department to work on making a plan to prevent wildlife conflict. He also asked the DFO and District Magistrates to work in coordination to prevent incidents of arson.
While reviewing the progress of Jaljeevan works in the division, the Commissioner said that if the progress in 122 works of Jaljeevan Mission in Almora, Champawat and other districts is not satisfactory, he gave instructions to form a team for weekly inspection of the works of Jaljeevan Mission. He also instructed the officers who were absent in the departmental review meeting of the division and did not do progressive work, to attend the meeting with a better report by next Monday. He said that when the work got delayed due to the objections of the Forest Department, he gave instructions to do the work in coordination with the Divisional Forest Officer. Action should be taken against those places where work is not being done by the contractor. Works worth more than Rs 10 crore were also reviewed in the review.
He said that the main issue in Jaljeevan Mission came regarding the application in Energy Corporation. He said that UPCL does not have information about the number of applications made in Jaljeevan Mission. A review in this regard will be done with the concerned departments on Monday.
Instructed the police and transport department to conduct joint transport intensive checking campaign especially at night. He gave instructions to verify the people coming from outside and doing business without the permission of local bodies.
DIG Dr. Yogendra Singh Rawat said that road accidents that usually occur on NH, State Highways and main roads should be analyzed in detail. So that the cause of road accidents is found out and work is done on its improvement and treatment. Particularly effective implementation should be done on the roads on which safety measures like crash barriers, parapets etc. have been suggested by the Road Safety Committee so that accidents can be prevented.
