The mortal remains of rifleman Shailendra of Uttarakhand, who was martyred on the India-China border, reached the village, mourning spread among the family members

Rifleman Shailendra Singh Kathait (27) of Garhwal Scouts was martyred while on duty. On Wednesday, his mortal remains were brought to his native village by the army. With military honours, martyr Shailendra Singh Kathait was given a final farewell with tearful eyes in the Bhagirathi river.

Rifleman Shailendra was posted at Goldung Post of Niti Valley on the India-China border. The day before yesterday he was patrolling with his colleagues. He was martyred while on duty.

Father died two months ago

Shailendra Singh leaves behind his wife, mother and two daughters. It is being told that Shailendra’s father Kripal Singh Kathait had died only two months ago. After his father’s death, he came home and returned to duty after performing the last rites of his father. Shailendra was the only lamp in the house.
