There is movement under the Himalayas, the Tibetan plateau is breaking, interesting claim of research

In recent years, earthquakes have become more frequent in and around the Himalayas. A study has made a new claim regarding this. According to this study, such activities are taking place under the Himalayas which will result in Tibet breaking into two parts. Whereas till now there was no possibility of this breakup of Tibet at all. This interesting study can also explain the reason for the recent increase in earthquakes.

The results of this study were presented at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union. In this, scientists have shown that the situation beneath the Himalayas, the world’s highest mountain range, is becoming very complex and the results may be very different from what was understood earlier.

The Himalayas are growing due to the collision of two tectonic plates. It is difficult to find out its true results because both the plates are very similar. Many scientists believe that the Indian Plate is moving beneath the Eurasia Plate. While many others think that instead of going down, the Indian plate is moving into parts of Tibet.

The new study states that the Indian plate is not going down very much and is breaking as well as bending. Researchers studied seismic waves and investigated the effect of this process. According to Science Magazine, while the Indian Plate is 200 kilometers deep at some places, it is only 100 kilometers deep at some places. This shows that this plate is separating like a peel.

In a study conducted in 2022, scientists found out by examining several seismic waves that this plate is breaking. This time scientists have found out how it is breaking and what kind of stress is being created on the surface and the core. This study may also explain why so many earthquakes are occurring near plate boundaries. Because this study has made it clear that the plates are showing too much activity.
