Uttarakhand / Almora: Truck crushes disabled person, painful death, driver absconds

A truck crushed a disabled person walking on the roadside near Post Office Chhani on Someshwar-Kausani Highway. Due to which the disabled person died on the spot. The driver is absconding with the truck since the incident. There is anger among the people of the area after this incident.

Deep Chandra Pant, son of Bhola Dutt Pant, aged about 52 years, resident of Lveshal, was walking on the roadside near Post Office Chhani on Someshwar-Kausani Highway of Almora district at around 11:30 am on Saturday morning. Then an unknown speeding truck going towards Kausani crushed him under the tyre. Due to which he died on the spot.

Chaos among family members
As soon as information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot. Police took the body in their custody and after filling the Panchnama at Someshwar Hospital, sent it to District Hospital Almora for post-mortem. There has been chaos among the family members after this incident. Along with this, there is anger among the people of the area after the incident.

Driver absconds leaving truck near Garuda
According to the information received, the police tried to catch the absconding truck driver. When the police chased, the driver fled leaving the truck number UK 05 CA 0988 near Garuda. The driver is still being searched.
