Shoaib Akhtar’s big statement, said- If Virat Kohli had been in our time…
Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen of current times. Very few players have been able to do what Virat has done in recent times. Recently, in the World Cup 2023, he broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar by scoring 50 centuries in ODIs. Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has said that if Virat Kohli had been in our time, he would have had to face a lot of challenges.
Shoaib Akhtar said during a conversation with ANI, “Today, Sachin Tendulkar has a lot of runs. He is included in the list of greats along with Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, Wasim Akram and Shane Warne. Had Virat Kohli been in our era, he would have faced a lot of challenges.
Akhtar further said, “He would have had to face a lot of problems. But he would have scored the same number of runs at that time as compared to now. As many as he has made so far. But it was not easy to play Wasim Akram in that era. Virat is Virat. He is the great batsman of this century. We cannot compare this period and that period. I want him to score 100 centuries.”
Virat Kohli had not played in the T20 format since the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Virat did not play the first T20 match against Afghanistan recently due to some reason. In the second match, he played an innings of 29 runs in 16 balls. Even in the third match, no big innings were seen from Virat’s bat. Virat will now be seen playing directly in IPL in T20 cricket. Because India does not have to participate in any ODI and T20 series before the World Cup 2024.
