Protests intensify against PM Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel
Amid the ongoing war against Hamas in Gaza, massive protests were once again seen against the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday. Thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv to blame PM Netanyahu for worsening the country’s security and demand re-election. Actually, Israelis have been protesting against the government for a long time. Although these were banned after the Hamas attack last year, they have now started once again.
At the same time, opinion polls conducted some time ago also showed less support for Netanyahu. People are demanding change of power. In this context, a large number of people gathered at Tel Aviv intersection on Saturday night and protested against the government. However, this time the people were much less than the crowd seen in 2023.
The protesting people were expressing their anger by playing drums and waving Israeli flags. Cardboards with many slogans written on them were also seen in his hands. During this, a young man named Nom Alon said that the government which abandoned us on October 7, is abandoning us every day since then. People evacuated from the northern and southern (borders), families of victims, reservists, hostages were left to fend for themselves.
He told that his brother was a soldier and was killed while trying to evacuate an Israeli city from Hamas infiltrators. He said from the stage, “The power to change and to heal is in our hands. This government needs to go home. Now!” Meanwhile the crowd answered him by shouting, “Now! Now!”
Demonstration of relatives of people taken hostage in Gaza also
Friends and relatives of Israelis still held hostage in Gaza also protested in Tel Aviv on Saturday. He demanded his release from the government. Meanwhile, Macabit Maiya, aunt of twin brothers Ziv and Gali Berman, captured in Gaza, said that there can be no victory without their release. Stop the war and take them out.
