Rinku Singh included in India-A team for the second four-day test, may get a chance to debut

Rinku Singh has been included in the India A squad for the second four-day match against England Lions from January 24 in Ahmedabad. 26-year-old Rinku made his international debut in T20 against Ireland in August last year and since then he has been very busy for the last five months. He was part of the gold medal-winning team at the Hangzhou Asian Games before playing T20 series against Australia, South Africa and Afghanistan.

He made his ODI debut in South Africa in December last year where he played two matches. He was included in the India A squad ahead of the second four-day match against South Africa A in Benoni, but was not a part of the playing 11. Rinku was seen in the Indian dugout at the SuperSport Park in Centurion during the Boxing Day Test and also took the field as a substitute fielder. He may get a chance to debut in red ball cricket for India A.

Rinku has played 46 first-class matches so far in which she has scored 3109 runs at an average of 57.57. He recently played for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy third round match against Bihar in Meerut. The match was scheduled to end on 22 January, but due to fog and bad light only 115 overs of play were possible over the four days.

Rinku has not been able to debut with the India A team yet, but he can also be included in the Test team against England. The selectors are considering possible replacements for Virat Kohli, who missed the first two Tests against England due to personal reasons. Rajat Patidar, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sarfaraz Khan and B Sai Sudarshan are also being considered as contenders.
