Uttarakhand: CM inaugurates State Handloom Expo in Dehradun

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the State Handloom Expo organized at Bannu School grounds located at Race Course, Doon on Saturday. On this occasion, the CM inspected various stalls in the expo and encouraged the artisans, weavers and small entrepreneurs. CM also presented Uttarakhand Shilp Ratna Awards to 10 people on this occasion. Under this, a sum of Rs 1 lakh, citation and body clothes were given.

State Handloom Expo unique in itself

CM said in his address that the State Handloom Expo is unique in itself. Because, while on one hand its form is like a fair, on the other hand it also provides a special platform to the youth and women working in the field of business and self-employment to showcase their work. While congratulating all the craftsmen, weavers and small entrepreneurs doing excellent work in the field of Shilpa Ratna and Handloom, Handicrafts and Small Enterprises, the CM said that through such events, on one hand, there is an opportunity to showcase local products. At the same time, the mantra of self-reliant India given by the PM also gets strengthened.

Unique backyard design

CM said that it has been told that 56 thousand 362 groups and 5 thousand 718 village organizations have been formed by organizing 4 lakh 22 thousand families in the state. To keep these organizations continuously connected with business activities, 350 registered cooperatives have been formed. Said, you should depict the culture of Uttarakhand in handloom and you will definitely get the market. Our backyard designs have their own unique identity. There is a lot of demand for it and this demand is increasing not only in the country but all over the world. CM said that it is a matter of joy for us that 9 handicraft products produced and manufactured in the state of Uttarakhand have received GI tags.

Everything is possible under the leadership of PM

CM said that the work of development of hilly areas which earlier seemed just a dream. Today, that seems to be possible on the ground under the leadership of the PM. Even in today’s modern era, every Uttarakhandi is connected to his culture. Today’s Handloom Expo is reflecting our insistence on staying connected to our roots. On this occasion, MLA Rajpur Road Khajan Das, Vice President of State Level Women Entrepreneur Council Vinod Uniyal, Secretary Industries Vinay Shankar Pandey etc. were present.
