The wait for UCC in Uttarakhand is nearing an end, Bhatt expressed gratitude to CM Dhami

BJP has welcomed the announcement of submitting the UCC draft and presenting it in the Assembly session. Expressing gratitude to CM Dhami, State President Mahendra Bhatt said, the time has come to fulfill another promise made to the residents of Devbhuni.
Responding, Bhatt said that the Uniform Civil Code is an ideological and principled commitment of the BJP. Providing uniform law and order to the people is the promise made by the party under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami to Devbhoomi during the assembly elections. After two years of marathon meetings, suggestions and consultations from all parties, stakeholders and tireless hard work of the committee, finally the day is near when we are going to get the draft on 2nd February. It is a matter of great happiness for all of us that the government will seriously consider this and present it in the Assembly. Our intention is clear that after passing the draft in the House, it should be recommended to the Governor as soon as possible. So that ending this system of legal discrimination on the basis of religious inequality starts from Devbhoomi.
He said that UCC has been the priority of the Chief Minister and the party since the beginning. Even in the last assembly elections-2022, CM Dhami had announced in public meetings that after victory, he will hand over UCC to Uttarakhand. With a huge majority, CM Dhami had started efforts towards bringing UCC from day one. But to ensure that the rights of any particular class or community are not violated under the law, the CM had constituted an expert committee under the chairmanship of former Justice (Retd.) Ranjana Desai. The committee took suggestions not only from the state but also from across the country and the draft was finalized after extensive discussion and consultation with each stakeholder.
He said, we have become the first state to secure the future of the youth by making the strictest cheating law. We have dealt a severe blow to those who are conspiring to change the cultural identity of Devbhoomi by implementing strict conversion laws. Therefore, it is a matter of great happiness and pride that our hope of Uttarakhand becoming the first state in the country to implement UCC is going to be realized soon.
