Kargil bandh – call for Leh Chalo today to demand full statehood, Wangchuk will go on hunger strike
Regarding full statehood and other demands, two major organizations of Ladakh, Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) have called for Kargil Bandh-Leh Chalo on February 3. First the Leh Apex Body called for Leh Chalo on 3rd February regarding the demands. Then in his support Kargil Democratic Alliance announced Kargil bandh. Meanwhile, LAB-KDA have been called by the Home Ministry for talks on February 19.
Both the organizations had jointly submitted a memorandum regarding their demands to the Home Ministry last month. Meanwhile, Magsaysay Award winner Sonam Wangchuk will go on a hunger strike on Sunday, the next day of the protest.
Meanwhile, Imam Jumma Sheikh Hamid Nasiri of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) after Friday prayers appealed to the public to support Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and Leh Apex Body (LAB) on February 3.
Various religious organizations like Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), Jamiat Ulema Isna Ashriya Kargil (JUIAK), Anjuma Saheb Zaman, Sanku (ASZ), Anjuman Inquilab e Mehdi, Suru (AIM) also sought support from the general public.

KDA co-chairman Haji Asghar Ali Karbalai said that despite several discussions, the high-powered committee has not taken any appropriate decision. LAB-KDA called by Home Ministry for talks on 19th
The Home Ministry has called the delegation of Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Party (KDA), agitating for giving full statehood to Ladakh, for talks on 19 February. A joint memorandum from both the organizations was submitted on January 19. The Home Ministry has nominated Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai to talk to the agitating people.
Meanwhile, on February 3, a call has been given for Kargil Bandh and Leh Chalo for the demands. Social activist and Magsaysay Award winner Sonam Wangchuk has supported and appealed to make the bandh a success. He has also announced a fast unto death on February 4. According to sources, after the announcement of the bandh, the Home Ministry has sent an invitation for talks to LAB and KDA. Now delegations are being prepared from both the organizations, which will attend the meeting in New Delhi.
