Uttarakhand: Do not leave the house, curfew in Haldwani, markets and shops will also remain closed till further orders

A huge uproar broke out during the demolition of the madrassa and religious places built illegally in Malik’s garden in Vanbhulpura, Haldwani. CM Dhami reviewed the situation with the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police. He appealed to the people to maintain peace. Gave instructions to deal strictly with unruly elements. Meanwhile, DM has imposed curfew in Haldwani and has given orders to shoot the rioters on sight.

In fact, the process of removing illegal religious places built on government lands has been going on in Uttarakhand for a long time. At around 3 pm on Thursday afternoon, the team of Haldwani Municipal Corporation reached Vanbhulpura police station with heavy police force. The force had already barricaded the Madrasa and religious place built by encroachment in Malik’s garden area at the encroachment site of the police station and stopped people from coming to the spot. During this time people started gathering at the spot. As soon as the police and corporation team vacated the madrassa and started removing the encroachment with JCB, the crowd started pelting stones from all sides. Many media personnel along with the police also got injured during the incident. In view of the incident, shops in Haldwani city also started closing.
