Madhya Pradesh: PM Residence allotted to ineligible people, CAG report reveals many irregularities

Many irregularities have been revealed in the PM Awas Yojana in Madhya Pradesh. During the Assembly session, State Deputy CM Jagdish Devda tabled the CAG report. He presented seven different reports. In these reports, irregularities in PM housing distribution (year 2016 to 2021) under Panchayat and Rural Development have been exposed.

The CAG report contains details of the schemes of urban administration, Panchayati Raj department and some other departments. These contain details of the functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions, accountability mechanism and reports of financial reporting cases for five years. Many errors have been revealed in the report.

Disturbances in PM Awas Yojana

According to the CAG report, during the year 2016 to 2021, in Madhya Pradesh, ineligible people were also given the benefit of the PM Awas Yojana, while in many cases, one family was given the benefit of the PM Awas Yojana three times. The report has revealed that many financially strong people have taken advantage of this scheme.

Car owners also took advantage of the scheme

According to the CAG report, there are about two thousand people who own cars, bikes and even schools, yet they took the benefit of PM Awas Yojana. There is a rule to pay the installment of PM Awas in 15 days, but there are 13 lakh beneficiaries who had to wait from one day to 1500 days to get the second installment. Whereas out of 25 lakh sanctioned houses, 8 lakh beneficiaries got the installment within 15 days.

Lakhs of houses of PM residence are incomplete

According to the CAG report presented in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, 18 percent of the total sanctioned houses in the state i.e. 4.64 lakh houses are incomplete. More than Rs 15 crore has been given to ineligible people. Whereas in the report it has been said that two to three houses have been given to the same family.
