Uttarakhand: Haldwani violence mastermind Abdul Malik and his son arrested, police also arrested SP leader’s brother

The fire of violence that broke out in Haldwani, Uttarakhand on Thursday, February 8, has now slowly started cooling down. The situation in the city has started becoming normal as before. Police have lifted curfew in some areas. However, curfew is still imposed in Banbhulpura police station area and its surrounding areas. Now the police has also started taking action against the miscreants, information about which was given by Nainital SSP Prahlad Narayan Meena himself.
Mastermind of Haldwani violence
Abdul Malik and his son are considered to be the mastermind behind the Haldwani violence. Whom the police have arrested. At the same time, Javed Siddiqui, brother of SP leader Matin Siddiqui, has also been arrested by the police. These people are accused of inciting violence. Police say that these people were leading the violent mob.
Case registered against five thousand people
Nainital SSP Prahlad Narayan Meena said that till now three cases have been registered by the police in the Haldwani violence. A case has been registered against five thousand people including 19 named. Of the 19 named, five have been arrested by the police. He also told that to control the violence that broke out in Banbhulpura police station area of Haldwani, firing had to be done after the order of the magistrate.
Abdul Malik accused of inciting violence
Police say that illegal construction in Malik’s garden was done by Abdul Malik himself. According to the police, on Thursday 8 February evening, when the administration and Haldwani Municipal Corporation team went to demolish the illegal construction, it was Abdul Malik who opposed it, after which the people became furious and attacked the police, administration and Haldwani Municipal Corporation present on the spot. The team was attacked. That is why Abdul Malik and his son are being considered as the initial instigators of this case.
Police started scanning CCTV footage
Police said that a case has been registered against 19 people including Abdul Malik and his son. Police is scanning the footage of all the CCTV cameras installed in the area, miscreants are being identified on the basis of that footage. Apart from this, some media footage has also been received by the police, which are also being viewed. There are many unruly people underground who are being searched.
Why did Haldwani burn in the fire of violence on February 8?
In fact, on Thursday evening of February 8, the team of District Administration and Haldwani Municipal Corporation had reached ‘Malik Ka Bagicha’ area in Banbhulpura police station area to demolish the illegal madrasa and illegal namaz place. As soon as the team started the action of demolishing the illegal building, the people present there started protesting against it.
Police say that they tried to convince the people a lot, but the people present there were not ready to listen to the police. During this time some people attacked the police-administration and municipal corporation team. Besides, stones were also pelted at the police from all sides, after which the situation there went out of control.
By late evening the situation in Banbhulpura police station area of Haldwani had gone out of control. As the miscreants attacked the police, the vehicles started burning. The miscreants had also tried to set fire to Banbhulpura police station. The miscreants also set fire to the vehicles parked outside the police station.
Five people have died so far in the Haldwani violence. The condition of many people remains critical. More than 300 people, including 100 policemen, were injured in the Haldwani violence. At present the situation in Haldwani is under control. Curfew has been lifted from other parts of the city except Banbhulpura police station area and its surrounding areas. However, Section 144 will remain applicable there.
Chief Secretary orders magisterial inquiry into violence, curfew lifted from outer areas
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has issued orders for a magisterial inquiry into the Haldwani case. On Friday, DGP Abhinav Kumar along with Chief Secretary Radha Raturi inspected Banbhulpura police station. During this he said that the police station was burnt in a planned manner. Vehicles were burnt. Stones were pelted at the police, which clearly shows that a big conspiracy has been hatched behind this.
Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat has been named the investigating officer for the magisterial inquiry into the violent incident that took place in Banbhulpura police station, Haldwani and nearby areas. On the instructions of Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat will conduct a magisterial inquiry. Kumaon Commissioner has been instructed to provide an impartial investigation report of the incident within 15 days.
