Treatment through Tantra Mantra and witchcraft is now a legal offense in Assam, Hemant government passed the bill

Today is the time of science. Science has discovered cure for many incurable diseases. But still many people get misled by hypocrites and ignorant people and get treatment with the belief of witchcraft. You too must have heard sometime or the other that so and so Baba or Fakir cures diseases by reciting prayers. Perhaps you might have seen someone doing this too. But now doing so is going to be illegal in Assam.

👉 ₹259 cr for a Wildlife Safari and Rescue Centre at Namdang Reserve Forest
👉 Selected 10 cities/towns for a dedicated sustainable development program

Government approved the bill
On Saturday, the Assam government approved a bill to ban and end the practices of ‘magical remedies’ in the name of treatment. This bill has a provision for strict punitive action against such healers. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma.
Sharing the decisions taken in the meeting, Sharma said the Cabinet also selected 10 cities/towns for a dedicated sustainable development program and proposed to bring reforms in the state municipal cadre. The Council of Ministers approved the ‘Assam Remedies (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill, 2024’. The Bill aims to prohibit and end the practices of magical healing in the name of treating certain congenital diseases like deafness, muteness, blindness, physical deformities and autism.
