Uttarakhand: 25 miscreants arrested with weapons, SSP denies arrest of mastermind Malik

Police have arrested 25 people during house-to-house searches in the Haldwani violence case. 153 cartridges have been recovered from them, out of which 99 cartridges were stolen from Banbhulpura police station. The SSP clearly denied that the mastermind of the violence, Abdul Malik, has been arrested and said that teams are busy searching for him. Here, the interrogation of 90 detained people is going on in the temporary jail built in Gaulapar.

Identification of the accused has become even easier with the videos found from the mobile phones of these people. Police have also got important clues from CCTV footage. The administration has lifted curfew from most areas of the city. Internet service has also been restored in Ramnagar. Curfew was relaxed in Banbhulpura but internet is still closed here.

On February 8, miscreants attacked the team that had gone to demolish the madrasa and namaz place built illegally on government land in Malik’s garden in Banbhulpura. More than 300 police, corporation personnel as well as media personnel were injured in this. The miscreants also burnt Banbhulpura police station. Police have already arrested five people in the case and more than ninety people are in custody. SSP Prahlad Narayan Meena told in a press conference that on Sunday also the police arrested 25 people by conducting a door-to-door search operation in Banbhulpura.

Six pistols of 315 bore and one pistol of 12 bore were recovered from them. Of the 153 cartridges recovered by the accused, 67 cartridges stolen from the police station were of .72 mm while 32 cartridges were of .9 mm. On the basis of CCTV footage, the police have identified the miscreants who torched the police station and teams have been deployed to arrest them. Let us tell you that on Saturday the police had arrested five people including two former councilors.

Life is slowly getting back on track
After the curfew was lifted from most areas of the city, the situation is gradually becoming normal with the restoration of internet service. However, many shops in the city markets still remained closed. Along with the movement of vehicles on the routes, the number of passengers at the bus stand has also increased. The district administration gave some relaxation and distributed ration, medicines, vegetables and cooking gas in the curfew affected area. Kumaon Mandal Development Corporation GM and Zonal Magistrate AP Vajpayee said that along with the opening of the medical store, Bhulpura Primary Health Center has also been opened in the area.

300 families left Banbhulpura, headed for UP
After the strictness of the police, migration of people from Banbhulpura area continues. Since morning, people were seen on the roads going towards Bareilly and Rampur. Police and administration estimate that till now more than 300 families have locked their houses and left the area.

The delegation met the administration, asked for permission to go to the affected area
A delegation of Jamiat-Ulama-e-Hind and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind met administrative officials at Tehsil Bhawan on Sunday. The delegation sought permission to visit the affected area. Other demands including not harassing innocents and some relief in curfew were put forward. The administration did not allow the delegation to visit the affected area due to curfew. The officers assured that milk, vegetables and other essential commodities are being distributed in the curfew affected area.
