Former Prime Minister of Netherlands Dries Van Agt and his wife Eugene embraced death together

Former Prime Minister of Netherlands Dries Van Agt and his wife Eugene have embraced death after spending nearly 70 years with each other. The age of both is said to be 93-93 years respectively. Dries and Eugene were ill for a long time. Not only this, he had also become quite old. This is the reason why he asked for death.

Even while giving up their lives, Dries and Eugene kept holding each other’s hands. Dries loved his wife Eugene very much. They knew each other during school days. A few years ago, during a special interview, Eugene had told that even today Dries fondly calls her ‘my girl’.

According to a legal rights organization in the Netherlands, Dries Van Egt and Eugene have been put to death by giving an injection of active euthanasia. After this, their mortal remains were buried in nearby graves.

Dries Van Eggt held the post of Prime Minister of the Netherlands between 1977 and 1982. He was part of the Christian Democrat Party. Dries had become completely helpless after brain hemorrhage in 2019. When this accident happened to him, he was giving a speech in a seminar hall.

Dries Van Egt often crossed party boundaries. Because of this, sometimes he faced opposition within his own party. Fed up with the constant criticism, he finally resigned from the party in 2017. Dries and Eugene have 3 children. He was against Israel and in favor of Palestine.
