Badminton: PV Sindhu returns with victory in Asia Team Championship, India beats China 3-2
Star badminton player PV Sindhu has made a spectacular comeback after four months due to injury. On Wednesday, India defeated the strong Chinese team 3-2 in the women’s event of the Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC). Sindhu started with a win. Due to there being only two teams in Group W, India’s victory in the knockout was certain even before the first match, but the team entered the knockout with pride by defeating top seed China.
Sindhu, who was out of action after suffering a knee injury during the French Open last year, gave India a 1-0 lead by defeating her better-ranked Han Yui 21-17 21-15 in 40 minutes. Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu, 28, has a world ranking of 11 while Hen Yui is at eight.

Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand then gave India parity by defeating the pair of Li Yi Jing and Luo Shu Min 10-21 21-18 21-17 in one hour and nine minutes.
