ED’s sixth summon to Arvind Kejriwal, called on 19 Feb, court has also summoned

ED has sent another summons to Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged liquor scam of Delhi. According to the report of news agency ANI, ED has issued the sixth summons to Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to Delhi’s alleged liquor scam. ED has asked Kejriwal to be available for questioning on February 19. It is noteworthy that till now Kejriwal has been ignoring all the summons issued by ED. Delhi CM Kejriwal has been declaring ED’s summons illegal every time.
ED had recently approached the court regarding this. ED said that five summons have been sent to Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to the new excise policy, but till now he has not given any proper reply to these summons. Kejriwal has not yet appeared for questioning. Last February 7th. The ED from your city had reached Rouse Avenue Court regarding this matter.
The court had heard this. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra had said during the hearing that under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the investigating agencies have the power to summon any person during the investigation. The presence of the accused may be considered necessary for giving evidence or producing records. The Chief Minister was thus bound to comply with such summons by virtue of Section 50(3) of the Act, but he allegedly failed to do so.
Along with this, the court had asked Kejriwal (Arvind Kejriwal) to appear in the court on February 17 for disobeying the ED summons. Now once again summons has been issued to Kejriwal by ED. The court had also said that prima facie AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is legally bound to comply with the ED summons.
The Enforcement Directorate has issued a fresh and sixth summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for questioning in a money laundering case related to excise duty policy, official sources said on Wednesday. Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Kejriwal has been asked to appear before the federal agency on February 19. Earlier, Kejriwal was called on dates like 2 February, 18 January and 3 January this year and 21 December and 2 November in 2023.
