Madhya Pradesh: In Indore 40-year-old woman earned Rs 2.5 lakh in 45 days by forcing her children to beg, arrested

A surprising case has come to light from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Here a 40 year old woman has earned lakhs of rupees by forcing her children to beg. This was revealed by an NGO. The NGO claimed that the 40-year-old woman earned Rs 2.5 lakh by begging in just 45 days. In this work he also pushed three minor children including his 8 year old daughter.
Earned Rs 2.5 lakh by begging in 45 days
Rupali Jain, president of Pravesh, an organization that is working with the administration towards making Indore a beggar-free city, said on Tuesday, “We recently found Indra Bai, 40, found begging at Luv-Kush intersection of Indore-Ujjain Road. Caught asking. We found cash worth Rs 19,200 from him.” According to Jain, Indra told him that she had earned Rs 2.5 lakh by begging in the last 45 days, out of which she sent Rs 1 lakh to her in-laws, deposited Rs 50,000 in a bank account and got an FD of Rs 50,000.
Woman’s land and two-storey house in Rajasthan
He further said that the family of the woman, who is part of a group of 150 people who beg professionally in Indore, also has land and a two-storey house in Rajasthan. Jain said, “Her husband has bought a bike in the name of Indra. After begging, she and her husband roam around the city on this bike.” According to the NGO Chief, the woman says that after the construction of Mahakal Lok Corridor in Ujjain, her family’s income has increased because the vehicles of most of the devotees going towards this city stop at the traffic signal of Luv-Kush intersection of Indore. Jain said that out of Indra Bai’s 5 children, 2 are in Rajasthan and she begs in Indore with 3 children. He said that an 8-year-old girl, who was among these children who were forced into beggary by her family, has been kept under the supervision of the Child Welfare Committee.
Woman arrested
Jain further said that the woman’s two sons, aged 9 years and 10 years, ran away after seeing the beggary eradication team. SI Ishwarchandra Rathod of Banganga police station said that after being caught while begging, Indra allegedly behaved unruly and argued with a female worker of the NGO. He said that the 40-year-old woman has been arrested under section 151 of CrPC. SI said that the woman was produced in the ACP court from where she was sent to jail under judicial custody. The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has started a pilot project to make 10 cities of the country beggar-free, which includes Indore.
10 children were saved and sent to government children’s home
Meanwhile, Indore DM Ashish Singh said, “We have set a target to save all the children forced into beggary in the city. Till now 10 such children have been rescued and sent to the government children’s home. Besides, action is also being taken against gangs involved in begging from children.”
