Uttarakhand: Jolly Grant Airport gets new building of Terminal-2, inaugurated by Union Minister Scindia and CM Dhami

The newly constructed terminal building Phase-2 of Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport was inaugurated. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia virtually inaugurated the Terminal Building Phase-2. The new terminal building has been equipped with modern technology. The new building of the terminal has a glimpse of the art and culture of Uttarakhand. The new terminal building has been completed at a cost of Rs 486 crore.

With the inauguration of the newly constructed terminal building Phase-2 of Jolly Grant Airport, the area of the airport has increased to 42,776 square meters. Earlier the old terminal building had an area of 28729 square meters. The new terminal building has 10 times more capacity than the old building. This airport will serve 3240 passengers in a peak year with an annual capacity of 47 lakh. The new airport has a runway of 2140 meters long and has an apron with a total of 20 parking spaces. For passenger amenities, the new terminal building has 48 check-in counters, 4 conveyor belts, 12 baggage, X-ray machines and parking for 500 cars. Arrangements have also been made for disabled people in the terminal building. It has facilities like ramp, lift and especially toilet.

Addressing the public from the stage in the program, CM Dhami said that air service in Uttarakhand has been strengthened due to the efforts of Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The Civil Aviation Department is working rapidly under the leadership of Minister Scindia. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister with the support of the Government of India, we have tried to convert challenges into opportunities. Today the authority is providing cheap air services to the people from outside also.

CM Dhami said, ‘At present 13 air ports are being constructed in the state. Our effort is to provide every transportation service to the tourists. Continuous efforts are being made to make Jolly Grant of international standard. Under this, this terminal has been inaugurated. The state government has completed all the formalities to make Pantnagar Airport of international standard. Recently, air service has also started for Pithoragarh.

CM Dhami said, ‘I request Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to start air service from Pithoragarh to Hindon also. A few months ago, Prime Minister Modi visited Adi Kailash at a height of 18 thousand feet, after which the number of tourists is increasing. PM Modi has given a new identity to the tourist places of Uttarakhand.
