Uttarakhand: Upanal workers arrived to surround the residence of the Sainik Welfare Minister, but were stopped by the police on the way

The employees of Uttarakhand Ex-Servicemen Welfare Corporation, who were on strike for the last four days over their pending demands, arrived on Friday to gherao the residence of Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi. But before they could reach there, the police stopped them on the way by placing barricades. Meanwhile, there was a scuffle between the police and Upanal personnel.

A large number of employees arrived to surround the house of Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi. Former CM Harish Rawat arrived to support the Upanal workers. The protesters accused the government of breaking promises. He said that in the year 2021, the government had constituted a sub-committee of three cabinet ministers to settle his case. The committee has also submitted its report but after this the report has not been implemented.

The government order of 18th July 2023 should be canceled
The employees say that the Additional Chief Secretary’s government order dated 18th July 2023 should also be cancelled. He says that the service of any employee should not be terminated. Whereas Vinod Godiyal, State Convener of Upanal Employees Joint Front, said that for the last several years, the services of Upanal employees working in various departments are being terminated by terming them as contrary to the posts created, which is injustice being done to them. He said that the government had earlier assured not to remove such employees. But even after this it was not implemented.
